Basic Info

One of Napa’s oldest boutique wineries, Mayacamas Vineyards is a property that Thirst Wine Merchants had longed admired. Finally, we are proud to bring these legendary wines back to Oklahoma! Located on Mount Veeder, Mayacamas Vineyards was founded in 1889 by John Henry Fisher. The winery fell into disuse after Prohibition, but was rejuvenated in 1941 by Jack and Mary Taylor. In 1968, Robert Travers and his wife bought the winery and, under their tenure, Mayacamas became known for intense, rustic and firmly tannic mountain-grown Cabernets, and enjoyed worldwide acclaim. Bob Travers created wines of classical, balanced, intense, and deeply authentic character for the more than four decades. Now, the next chapter begins with the purchase of the property by Charles Banks, (former owner of Jonata and Screaming Eagle). He has committed to a huge investment in the winery and vineyards, and has brought in superstar duo Andy Erickson and Annie Favia to oversee viticulture and winemaking. Banks fell in love with Mayacamas about 15 years ago when he was given a magnum of 1970 Mayacamas Cabernet for his 30th birthday. He called it one of the greatest Napa Valley Cabernets he’d ever tasted, and the reason his stewardship of this magnificent property is such focus for him and his team.
