• “These racy, energetic efforts are made by Sashi Moorman from their home base in Lompoc. Taking lightness to the extreme in some cases, these are nevertheless riveting wines.” (Jeb Dunnuck, The Wine Advocate)
  • "All of the wines are impressive, made in a very deliberate style. The Chardonnays are trim, clean and flinty, with green apple, citrus and mineral. My favorite was the rich, vibrant 2010 Rita's Crown, which showed more depth and complexity than the others. The Pinots too are intensely flavored, dark and complex, with pretty floral scents mixed with subtle blackberry jam. The standout: Sanford & Benedict 2010, which is well-defined and detailed, with fresh, vibrant black cherry, wild berry, mineral and chalk notes. Sandhi is off to an inspiring start." (James Laube, Wine Spectator)

Basic Info

Sandhi is a small production California winery focusing on select vineyards from the Santa Rita Hills in Santa Barbara County and was founded in 2010 by Rajat Parr, the wine director for Michael Minta Restaurants; Charles Banks, former owner of Jonata and Screaming Eagle; and esteemed winemaker, Sashi Moorman. Sandhi represents a union essential to the production of wine: the collaboration between man, earth and vine. The willing participation of all three elements is necessary to make great wine, and the winegrower must make this collaboration rich and nourishing for all involved. An understanding of these joint efforts informs Sandhi's exploration of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vines throughout the Santa Barbara County terroir.
