Basic Info

Wine & Spirits Magazine ‘Top 100 Winery of the Year 2010!’ Pehu-Simonet is a house of tradition in the heart of Champagne. It is a 9-hectare estate founded by Julia Pehu is now run by David Pehu and his wife, growing grape varieties of 78% Pinot Noir and 22% Chardonnay. Pehu’s a true dark horse. The wines are glossy and fleshy, and correspondingly less sleek and filigree. He has 9 hectares of which 6 are Grand Cru; the balance is Chardonnay in Villers-Marmery, but which he sells off – he wants to bottle only Grand Cru Champagne. His vineyards are a remarkably ecumenical group: Verzy, Verzenay, Mailly, Sillery – and Mesnil!
