• “As I said last year, DuMol is one of my favorite wineries, primarily because of the passion and commitment to quality of owner Kerry Murphy and his winemaker, Andy Smith… [DuMOL is] doing sensational work in the cool-climate areas of the Russian River. This is a winery that is clearly on top of its game and pushing all the right buttons in terms of quality.” (Robert Parker)

Basic Info

DuMOL’s 25-acre sustainably-farmed Estate Vineyard is located on an undulating east-facing slope of one of the appellation’s famous ridgelines. From this classis site and in tandem with some of our coastal area’s finest growers, we craft wines that fully capture the aromatics, flavors and textures that exemplify their vineyard sites and varietal character in the purest and most precise form. Since its inception, DuMOL has strictly allocated all of its wines because they have always sold out months before their official release dates each spring and fall. 2013 marks the 18th harvest for us at DuMOL. Over these vintages we have thoughtfully assembled an unparalleled collection of vineyard sites that we own, lease and some that are farmed to our precise specification. In these vineyards we work hard to minimize external inputs promoting soil and vine health to produce grapes that allow us to bring distinctive wines to bottle. We believe in wine quality through precise viticulture and reasoned sustainable farming and you will more often find us in the vineyard focusing on original grape quality rather than in the winery trying to find ways to ‘improve’ finished wines. In the winery we work in a patient, sensitive and classical manner to maintain all the natural nuances and detail of the grapes and to bring to bottle wines that capture all of the characteristics of these wonderful vineyard sites – the true specific ‘vineyard signature’. We have a strong stylistic vision for our wines and have the vineyard sites to match this vision. We produce wines that we believe in and enjoy drinking rather than for reviews, scores or the latest trend. These are wines that develop and mature with time in bottle to achieve greater complexity than pure fruit-alone. We fine tune and experiment each year and believe that quality comes from the layering of a whole series of nuances which combine to create the detail we love in our wines. In the spring of 2012 DuMOL finally allocated a small quantity of wine to Oklahoma for the first time. We are now proud to offer a second release, from the fabulous 2010 vintage. Cheers!
