• "I was deeply impressed with the wines I tasted from Boroli… Boroli is clearly on the rise, and from here the only direction to go is up." (Antonio Galloni, The Wine Advocate)

Basic Info

The rapid ascent of this new, small, family-run winery, consisting of Cascina Bompè vineyard in Alba and La Brunella in Barolo's Castiglione Falletto, is in part due to their consultant, noted oenologist Beppe Caviola, Gambero Rosso's 'Winemaker of the Year' in 2002. Achille Boroli handles all of the winery's daily operations. Cascina Bompè, five kilometers from Alba, at approximately 1270 feet above sea level, is on top of a hill called Madonna di Como that has been historically documented as a centuries-old wine-growing site. The farmhouse here, totally restored, recreates the original building's details. Cascina Bompè includes the elegant inn and Michelin-starred restaurant Locanda del Pilone. La Brunella has a separate, newly completed winery beautifully designed by one of the Boroli sons, Guido. This estate includes two of Italy's most prestigious Barolo vineyards: Villero and Cerequio Crus. A new cellar features an arresting design element: the external walls above ground are clas in oak staves from barriques previously used in Barolo production.
