Pinot Noir, Cancilla Vineyard 2015

Day Wines

The vineyard is owned and grown (certified organic & dry farmed) by Ken Cancilla. In the hot 2015 vintage the fruit was quite ripe, so this wine is robust and full, with acid & tannins that ensure it will age for years to come. Spicy and floral aromas were abundant throughout fermentation and remain all the way into the bottle. The fruit was fully destemmed, and some stems were added back based on how the stems smelled. This site’s stems have a really specific aroma – like cinnamon, sweet spices, and black pepper.

Reviews

  • "92 points. Deep red. Intensely perfumed red fruit and rose pastille aromas are complemented by deeper notes of cola, cherry pit and licorice. Nicely concentrated on the palate, offering sweet black raspberry and cherry cola flavors and a touch of star anise. Shows excellent clarity and spicy thrust on the finish, which features smooth, velvety tannins and repeating floral character." (vinous)
