Contrade malvasia chardonnay

Malvasia-Chardonnay 2016

Contrade

Malvasia is an ancient indigenous grape of the whole Mediterranean area. The name "Malvasia" is derived from Monemvasia, a medieval and early Renaissance Byzantine fortress and trading center for wines produced in those areas. Malvasia is crispy, aromatic and floral, and when blended with Chardonnay, results in a wine that is very fresh, with subtle fruit and mineral notes and pleasing aromatics. Notes of lime, kiwis, apple and flowers. Crisp, clean and easy to drink.

Reviews

  • "86 points. From the heel of the boot of Italy, the 2016 Malvasia Chardonnay Contrade offers a mid-weight performance with ripe fruit aromas on the opulent bouquet. You'll get apricot, preserved lemon and cantaloupe melon. This is a proud warm-climate wine with extra glycerin and creamy volume on the finish. The Chardonnay element adds the structure and the Malvasia adds to the aromas. Contrade is a sub-brand owned by the Falvio family of Masseria Li Veli. This wine offers terrific value."
