Brut, "Cornwall" 2013

Camel Valley Vineyards

Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Seyval Blanc come together to form what is considered by many, including famed wine writer and critic Oz Clarke, as 'Britain's best value sparkler.' The nose abounds with fresh orchard fruits and pithy grapefruit. There is an underlying spice of white pepper and fresh herbs over a slice of lemon pound cake. The palate is aggressive with high toned notes of green apple and grapefruit moving with extended notes of ripe pears and gooseberries. The finish is not massive but it is persistent with a peppery, herbal tone carrying throughout.

Reviews

  • "90 points. The 2013 Brut is a blend of 40% Chardonnay, 30% Seyval Blanc and 30% Pinot Noir that spent three years on the lees. It has a simple, light bouquet of bruised apple and a pinch of nutmeg. The palate is smooth and harmonious: notes of yellow plum and ginger, fresh and vivacious with a vibrant saline finish. This is an excellent sparkler from Camel Valley." (Wine Advocate)
