"Menagerie of the Barossa" 2013

Dandelion Vineyards

The nose is a summer pudding of lifted red fruits, berries and a hit of cinnamon and Asian spice. Wild cherries, Damson plums, mulberries and an impressive structure balanced by spicy oak. The palate is opulent; intense red berries balanced by soft velvety tannins and supple oak with great balance from the acid renown in Barossa Grenache.

Reviews

  • "91 points. Oozing rich black licorice, espresso and date flavors, this is expressive and generous, with velvety tannins and a spicy black tea note lingering on the finish. Grenache, Shiraz and Mataro. Drink now through 2026. 1,200 cases made." (Wine Spectator)
  • "90 points. Opaque ruby. Pungent, smoke-accented aromas of red berries, cherry and mocha, with a hint of white pepper adding vivacity. Smooth, broad and seamless on the palate, offering gently sweet black raspberry and cola flavors tightened by a jolt of juicy acidity. Closes spicy and long, with very good focus; supple tannins make a late appearance." (vinous)
