Bergerie blanc

Anjou Blanc, "Les Pierres Girard" 2014

Domaine de la Bergerie

Vouvray is definitely famous for its Chenin Blanc, but Anjou is where the real action happens. This is where you'll find Savennières, Bonnezeaux, Coteaux du Layon, Quarts-de-Chaume, and regional Chenin-based wine known simply as Anjou Blanc. Anjou Blanc ranges in style from bone-dry to ultra-fruity; "Les Pierres Girard” falls somewhere in the middle and will easily please fans of serious Chenin as well as full-bodied Riesling. Full-bodied, fruity with a dry finish. Starts with a deep golden color and an expressive nose of flowers, melon, and butterscotch candy. The dense aromatic palate is loaded with dried fruit. High acidity, ripe stonefruit, and almond on a long finish. Pair with roast pork, Asian food, strong cheeses, and fish dressed with butter sauces.
