Gamay 2014

Salem Wine Co. by Evening Land

There’s a soft spot in my heart for a great Gamay, usually a Fleurie from Beaujolais. When I tried this little gem from the famous Seven Springs Vineyard up in Oregon, I was smitten! No surprise as the winemaker is one of my favorites these days. Sashi Moorman, of Domaine de la Cote, has crafted a super delicious wine here: bright and refreshing crunchy wild berry, lovely floral aromas, and a nice streak of minerals dance around in perfect harmony with a perfect pitch of acidity and a lightness that keeps you going back for another sip. This is the perfect wine for a summer picnic.

Reviews

  • "89 points. Rajat Parr is one of the partners in this new venture. This Gamay offers chunky cherry fruit with a pleasing peppery bite. Tannins are firm and proportionate, and the lively mouthfeel derives from fermentation via carbonic maceration." (Wine Enthusiast)
