"Nero Misto" Red Blend 2012

Elyse Winery

Like a hippo on a tightrope, the 2012 Nero Misto (Italian for “Mixed Black”) is big, bodacious, and above all, balanced. Dark purple in color with aromas of wild black fruits, pepper, tar, sage, and earth, this homage to the Cal-Ital blends of early Napa is a serious red wine. On the palate, it shows a full and round mouthfeel with bright fruit flavors of mixed berry, Bing cherry and pomegranate. This wine has amazing balance of fruit, earth and soft well-integrated tannins. Definitely our “go to” wine! Nero Misto is an extremely versatile wine, particularly good with Italian food, spicy southwest cuisine and steaks and chops off the grill. It is also spot on with a great hamburger or pizza. Drinking beautifully right now, so why wait? (Although putting a bit down will be a nice surprise 5 - 7 years from now).
