I googled opaque... and a picture of Broncho showed up! Deep, dark, delicious. If purple is a flavor... this is it!

Reviews

  • "93 points. Another terrific wine released under the Charles Smith label is the 2013 Malbec Stoneridge Vineyard Broncho. Made from 100% Malbec and aged mostly in neutral barrels, this beauty offers lots of black and blue fruits, violets, scorched earth and licorice in a full-bodied, concentrated, impeccably balanced profile. As a whole, the state hasn't really figured Malbec out, but this is a terrific wine and one of the best examples of the variety out there." (Robert Parker)
  • "91 points. Bright, saturated dark red. Aromas of cassis, kirsch, blackberry and spices, complemented by menthol and mocha nuances. At once savory and sweet, with lovely floral lift to its dark fruit flavors. With its density and suavity of texture, this wine reminded me a bit of the high-end Malbec bottlings from Achaval-Ferrer in Mendoza, and that's high praise. Finishes with nicely integrated tannins and excellent lift. A superb Washington Malbec." (vinous)
