Hudson syrah

Syrah, Carneros 2013

Hudson Vineyards

This is a beautiful example of the 2013 vintage from Hudson. This full figured red brings a mouthful of flavors without being heavy handed. Black currant, pepper, and hints of cherry dominate a palate that is complimented by fine tannic structure. This beguiling wine has what it takes to enjoy now or lay down for the future

Reviews

  • "95 points. The 2013 Syrah shocked me. It is 100% Syrah, but it sure smells as if some Viognier was co-fermented. It is not a very big cuvée (only five barrels, or 125 cases), but it has the classic Côte Rôtie bacon fat/apricot/lychee character, with dark raspberries and blacker currants. Its deep, ripe dense purple color is followed by a full-bodied, beautiful, velvety textured, lush wine that is super-alluring, gorgeously pure and very French in style. Drink it over the next 7-10 years." (Wine Advocate)
  • "90 points. Deftly focused and balanced, with distinctive raspberry and eucalyptus aromas and layered flavors of currant, mineral and melted licorice. Ripe tannins frame the finish. Drink now through 2025. 130 cases made." (Wine Spectator)
