Eyrie pinotgris

Pinot Gris, Estate 2014

Eyrie Vineyards

This blend of grapes from all four vineyards shows rich varietal character and complexity rarely found in Pinot gris (grigio). Fermented in stainless steel tanks, the wine gains added dimensions from remaining on the lees until bottling. It is given only one loose filtration prior to bottling. Our first Pinot gris was produced in 1970, a full ten years before other winegrowers recognized its New World potential. The Eyrie Vineyards continues to be credited with setting the standard for flavor and value.

Reviews

  • "92 points. Editors' Choice. Stylish and detailed, this exemplary effort showcases a subtle and elegant approach to the grape. Rather than fleshy fruit flavors, it offers focused notes of pear skin, citrus rind and an overriding minerality. It's drinking quite nicely already, and seems built to continue to evolve through 2020." (Wine Enthusiast)
  • "91 points. Aromas of green apple, orange zest and nectarine gain complexity and lift from chalky mineral and floral nuances. Zesty and penetrating on the palate, offering bitter pear skin and citrus fruit flavors that deepen steadily on the back half. Hints of honeysuckle and ginger emerge on the very long, nervy finish, which shows excellent clarity and nervy bite." (vinous)
