Dumol syrah rrv

Syrah, "Jack Robert's Run" 2013

DuMOL

Beautiful aromatic fruit purity: boysenberry, blackberry and huckleberry then complex secondary characters, graphite, violets, licorice and game. A myriad of fragrant layered aromas, fresh and breezy but always a darker brooding edge. Kaleidoscopic palate – briary fruit, spicy tapenade notes, inner mouth lilac perfume, wild sage and woodsy complexity. Texture builds alongside prominent structure. Ripe fruit absorbs the wine’s firmness. Finishes layered, long and savory. Decant in its youth and drink between 2016 and 2023.

Reviews

  • "94 points. The 2013 Syrah Jack Robert's Run Gregori Vineyard has put on considerable weight and acquired gravitas over the last year. Tannic and imposing, the Jack Robert's Run shows the more savory, structured side of Syrah. Dark blue and black-fleshed fruits, smoke and lavender find support in beams of salinity that give the wine much of its energy. A closing flourish of floral and savory notes rounds things out in style. The only thing the 2013 needs is time. This is yet another superb and delicious wine from the team at DuMOL." (vinous)
  • "93 points. Broodingly powerful, with a core of lively acidity and firm tannins. Aromas of boysenberry and crushed rock open to complex flavors of black cherry, smoky beef and grilled herb, finishing with muscular tannins. Hands off for now. Best from 2018 through 2023. 264 cases made." (Wine Spectator)
