Dumol chardonnay estate

Chardonnay, Estate 2013

DuMOL

Straw-colored in the glass. Grand scale aromatic complexity: green herbs, ginger, hay and fennel. Then the fruit takes holds, melon, Gravenstein apple, lime zest and honeysuckle. Piercing vibrant palate, extremely saline and savory. Lanolin, almondy texture builds. Deeply focused clarity and power. Limes, minerals, some freshly baked bread notes. Long vein of taut acidity and sense of building power to finish. Drink between 2016 and 2022.

Reviews

  • "94 points. The 2013 Chardonnay Estate Vineyard is an intense, powerful wine, but all of that energy is presently directed inward. Today, the 2013 is quite closed and unexpressive. Readers will need to be patient, as this tightly-coiled wine needs time in bottle. The Estate is the most explosive of the DuMol Chardonnays." (vinous)
  • "92 points. One hundred percent from the DuMOL estate, the 2013 Chardonnay Estate (which comes from a combination of the Hyde Wente clone and Mt. Eden selections) is treated similarly to the other cuvĂ©es. It emerges from one of the most tightly planted vineyards in Northern California (3,680 vines per acre vs. the typical 600 to 800). Terrific lemon oil, white peach, currant, quince and orange blossom are all present in this complex, citrusy, full-bodied Chardonnay that is built for aging 10-15 years." (Wine Advocate)
