Lompoc chardonnay

Chardonnay 2013

Lompoc Wine Co.

Lompoc Wine Co. Chardonnay comes entirely from the Domaine de la Côte estate’s eastern edge. Just downslope from La Côte sits a 15.5 acre mesa of very fine clay loam over shale. This mesa slopes ever so gently to the south, granting our lowest lying climat an advantageous exposure. Consistent with the entire estate, the mesa is planted at a very high vine density of 4,000+ vines to the acre. This density promotes competition, regulates yield, and protects the vines from the constant cooling winds that characterize the southwestern boundary of the Sta. Rita Hills. The Lompoc Wine Co. wines are crafted to be approachable and authentic, consumed in their youth, with very little sulfur and no new cooperage employed.

Reviews

  • "90 points. The 2013 Santa Rita Hills Chardonnay from Lompoc Wine Company bursts open with tropical fruits, lemon zest, and a touch of vanilla blossom followed by crushed stones and a lovely saline character. This impresses with its remarkable texture and a lovely minerality that runs through the core into the bright finish. Overall, a terrific showing that is drinking incredible right out of the gate and should continue to impress over the next few years. (Best 2015-2019)." (International Wine Report)
