Casanova cerrtalto

Brunello di Montalcino, "Cerretalto" 2010

Casanova di Neri

Offspring of our homonymous vineyard and of our estate's best grapes, this wine is kept in the winery for 6 years. It undergoes a traditional vinification in our style but not before a rigorous selection by which every imperfect grape is discarded. Cerretalto is only produced in the years of maximum grape quality. Complex and potent it is also capable of maintaining throughout the years its unique fineness. Extremely long aging capacity Ruby red. Hints of red fruits, spices and an unmistakeable characteristic mineral vein. Prolonged and profound taste.

Reviews

  • "100 points. Here is a stunning wine that exudes excellence in primary material and winemaking craft. Man and nature come together with perfect precision and harmony in the 2010 Brunello di Montalcino Cerretalto. The balance is exquisite. Bold cherry and blackberry notes are followed by crushed mineral, licorice, smoke and lightly fragrant cedar. The wine also shows convincing power and volume. It spreads evenly over the palate, and its flavor intensity can be counted over many long minutes. Cerretalto is beautifully concentrated and rich, but it is never too heavy or dense. This is an Italian icon that is still drinking young now, but it has an exciting world of possibility ahead. I think we'd all like to come along for the ride." (Wine Advocate)
  • "100 points. The 2010 'Cerretalto' is an extraordinary Brunello di Montalcino from Casanova di Neri, which comes from the estates finest selection of grapes, and only produced in ideal vintages. As the 2010 slowly opens, it begins to release aromas of ripe black cherries and blackberries, woven together with violets, graphite, spices, pencil shavings and crushed stones which all take shape in the glass. This is full-bodied, powerful, and complex with remarkable structure and outstanding overall depth and concentration. It possesses a beautiful polished texture that continues on into the ultra-long finish, which carries on and on with tremendous length, leaving behind flavors of ripe dark fruits and graphite. This epic Brunello has an extremely long future ahead, and it will be interesting to watch this evolve for decades to come. The 2010 'Cerretalto' is a truly majestic wine, which has reached the pinnacle of perfection in this great vintage. (Best 2019-2036)." (International Wine Report)
