Dandelion riesling

Riesling, "Wonderland of the Eden Valley" 2013

Dandelion Vineyards

Pristine pale straw with almost fluorescent green tinges. Lights on in this Wonderland, an intense late vintage of powerful jasmine, mandarin leaf and even lychee juice bursting fruit freshness, with invigorating, intense smells of lime skin, citrus blossom, green apple, ripe guavas and cinnamon spice. An extraordinary precise and clean fruit spectrum of crunch lime and other citrus fruit flavors, stone-fruit, including apricot as well as classic mandarin citrus on the mid palate, developing into rich lemon meringue tart-like flavor but still with a refreshing steely minerality, balanced with racy, slate-like acidity.

Reviews

  • "89 points. Showing a lovely floral perfume over a core of pink grapefruit and white peaches plus and hint of lime peel, the dry, light-bodied 2013 Wonderland of the Eden Valley Riesling possesses a lively acid line to cut through the citrus and stone fruit flavors before it finishes long and clean. Drink it now to 2019+." (Wine Advocate)
  • "89 points. Greenish-yellow. Vibrant, mineral-tinged aromas of fresh citrus fruits, green apple and honeysuckle, with a hint of kerosene in the background. Bright and nervy on the palate, offering incisive lemon/lime and bitter quinine flavors that gain flesh with aeration. Finishes tangy and precise, with a touch of bitter pear skin and good length."
