Dandelion shiraz

Shiraz, "Lionheart of the Barossa" 2011

Dandelion Vineyards

Intense crimson with youthful purple hues. Lifted blue fruits, blood plum, ripe blackberries and Christmas pudding-like spice flow out of the glass with spicy pepper, and hints of bramble and dark chocolate. Generous mouth filling sweet blackberry, raspberry and plums cover the palate with lashings of sweet spice. Firm but fine tannins and dark chocolaty nuances continue throughout the lengthy palate with youthful finish.

Reviews

  • "94 points. Deep purple-black in color, with aromas of black plums and freshly crushed black currants over pepper, charcoal, tar and earth. it shows off plenty of expressive berry & earth flavors, with grainy tannins, and a refreshing lift in the long finish." (Australian Wine Companion)
  • "89 points. Bright violet color. Peppery blackberry and cherry compote aromas are complemented by smoke and spicecake. Juicy, supple dark fruit flavors put on weight and gain in sweetness with air but maintain energy and focus. Finishes smooth and broad, with good clarity and spicy persistence." (vinous)
