"Mon Chou #50" 2007

Jacob Franklin

As with all previous Mon Chou blends, the associated number denotes the percentage of Cabernet Franc in the blend. The 2007 vintage contains 50% Cabernet Franc, while Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Petite Verdot complete this homage to the great blends of Bordeaux. The wine is a deep garnet red color, with restrained aromas of earth, tobacco and a hint of tar. Lush underlying flavors of mixed berries, sweet black cherries, and tapenade are supported by firm tannins. #50 Mon Chou is extremely well-balanced with integrated oak and a seamless combination of rich fruit flavors, spicy cedar nuances and hints of cassis and cola. Drink this wine over the next 6 to 8 years and pair with roast beef tenderloin, pasta, fowl, and cheese.
