Founded in 1850 in the heart of the prestigious Sancerre appellation, Domaine Laporte is renowned for its quality. Domaine LaPorte owes its modern fame to the talents of one of the Loire Valley's most dynamic winemakers, Jean-Marie Bourgeois. The son of Henri Bourgeois, one of the Loire's best-known names, Jean-Marie purchased the domaine in 1985 and revitalized it. Le Bouquet is fermented and aged in stainless-steel tanks rather than oak barrels, a technique that preserves the wine's pure fruit flavors and crispness. Domaine Laporte sits on the edge of a valley known as La Cassure de Sancerre. This unique geological formation is divided into two distinct soil types: limestone hills on one side of the valley, flint hills on the opposite side. Grapes grown on each of these different soils are vinified according to the kind of soil. This careful respect for soil typicity gives each wine an individual expression and personality.
