Chester's Anvil

  • "Top 100 Most Influential U.S. Winemakers. Aaron Pott is taking Napa Cabernet Sauvignon back to its roots avoiding artificially concentrated, super fruity wines championing profound single-vineyard reds. He also makes wines for star properties like Blackbird, Seven Stones, Quixote and Bello Family. Potts influences are far-ranging, he has managed Bordeaux châteaus and made wines all over the world, but his true inspiration is his home turf, Napa. He was named Winemaker of the Year in 2012 by Food & Wine Magazine." (Into Wine)

Basic Info

Chester's Anvil is a collaboration among friends and neighbors — Aaron and Claire Pott of Pott Wine and Steve Lagier and Carole Meredith of Lagier-Meredith. Forged from long friendship and challenging Mount Veeder surroundings, Chester's Anvil is the result of fiery discussions over dinner, fueled by countless bottles of shared wine. We created Chester's Anvil as an excuse to work together to be able to offer wines beyond our usual purview. As neighbors with an elderly recluse on Mt. Veeder named Chester, both the Pott’s and Lagier-Meredith’s were asked to help him out one afternoon with some chores. Afterwards they received an antique anvil as a ‘thank you’ gift. Thus was born Chester’s Anvil Wines. Complex and balanced, unpretentious and easy to drink. Wines of pleasure that aren't afraid to show you where they come from. Wines that draw you into the night, to gather at the fire for whispers or tall tales.
